KVPT Nepal Earthquake - Architectural Heritage Response Fund
http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/kvpt-nepal-earthquake-architectural-heritage-response-fund/344046

KVPT has worked for 25 years to preserve Nepal's UNESCO world heritage sites for future generations and to support 100 local craftsmen and professionals. Many of the structures painstakingly restored by this team have withstood the earthquake. However, in the wake of so much damage to Nepal's architectural heritage, support is needed for the architects, stone masons, gilders and builders to continue preserving and rebuilding the ancient temples, palaces and monuments. KVPT will continue its tradition of sharing its seismic strengthening techniques with all who need it throughout the Himalayan region. Protecting and saving mankind's shared cultural treasures is more important than ever before for Nepal's future.

KVPT pledges that nothing will be spent on administration and it has the existing infrastructure, expertise and people - all paid for already - to make your donation count where it is most desperately needed.

All donations will be sent to Nepal and spent on emergency cultural relief work. Donations are tax deductible - KVPT is 501c3 New York based charity.

Found on Facebook:

Yale has organized a relief fund to streamline donations evenly across five organizations. Specify "Nepal Earthquake" in the "Your Department/Division/Unit" section. Educate the Children International (ETC) has set up an earthquake fund to provide relief to communities affected by the earthquake in Dolakha district of Nepal, a remote district especially hard-hit by aftershocks. This is an area that ETC has worked in for over a decade.

Dzi Foundation is mobilizing to rebuild homes, schools, and local infrastructure in remote areas of Eastern Nepal struck by the earthquake. They have been working with communities in the region since 1998.

Habitat for Humanity has worked in Nepal for 18 years. Disaster response teams are coordinating operations with local government agencies and disaster relief partners, and will be assembling emergency shelter kits. Shelters are in immediate demand.

International Medical Corps' emergency response teams are operating Mobile Medical Units to deliver critically needed medical care and medicines to the regions hardest-hit by the earthquake. The response team has been on the ground since April 25 when the quake struck, and has been distributing hygiene kits, water purification tablets, and other supplies to keep families healthy. Moving forward, your gift will help teams support survivors, restore healthcare, and help Nepal rebuild. If you donate through Facebook, they will match your donation up to $2 million to contribute to local relief organizations.

This is in no way an exhaustive list. It is a place to start thinking about concrete ways to make a difference for Nepal.

Please note re donations to local organization is Nepal:

Following some inaccurate information being circulated regarding redirection of funds to the Prime Minister's relief fund, leading journalist Kunda Dixit has confirmed in an article that registered NGOs can receive funds from outside the country.

The government has however declared that any foreign funds being paid to NGOs that were created solely for earthquake relief will be re-routed to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. Please note that NGOs with existing registrations prior to the earthquake are unaffected by this rule. Funds to these NGOs will not be seized.

According to Dixit, "local community-based organizations with ties to the affected villages are those that are affected the most by these rumours. These smaller organizations can leverage even relatively small donations incredibly well because they understand Nepal, are run by Nepalis, and are committed to taking care of their own communities. These organizations need and can utilize quickly small donations provided by the Nepali diaspora and other supporters".

He concludes that "It is vital that these rumours are put to rest, funds can flow without interruption, and aid can reach some of the most neglected and affected communities". See his article on this here: http://www.nepalitimes.com/blogs/thebrief/2015/05/02/real-story-on-pm-relief-fund
