qianlong mark on bronze written from left to right? |
Posted By: Joe Posted Date: Jul 19, 2013 (07:25 PM) |
Message I recently acquired a bronze Bodhisattva with an incised, six character Qianlong mark written on the base on the back of the statue. The mark is in horizontal format and reads from right to left. Most examples I come across, via Christie's, or Bonhams show the horizontal marks written from right to left. Can anyone tell me if there are legitimate instances of this sort of left to right seal mark inscription on bronzes from the Qianlong period or the Qing dynasty in general? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks -Joe Post a Response |
