Re: Japanese Bronze Elephant |

Message The seal reads, with the maker's name written in hiragana, 'Seiya saku' (made by Seiya). Genryusai Seiya was a Meiji period Japanese workshop specialized in high quality exotic bronze models of animals, human figures and vases, made for the export market, late 19th century but, to my knowledge, other maker's marks were used. Your model could be a later 20th century copy with a fake mark, but this is just my own supposition. Maybe, others could recognize this 'Seiya' mark. Guy Post a Response |
