Japanese Imari Dragon Plate |
Posted By: Zak Tay Posted Date: Aug 09, 2007 (10:48 PM) |
Message This is an Imari plate. Probably from the Meiji period (1868 to 1912 AD)from its drawing. The marks behind are typical of Japanese wares that try to imitiate Chinese ones. Perhaps this is an expert ware. There are also stilt marks at the bottom of the plate. This is an underglaze blue plate with overglaze patterns. Such big plates are particularly popular in Europe and also Southeast Asia (countries like Indonesia where they are used for communal eating). Post a Response |
