15. “Bark Scorpion” Centruroides exilicauda
(Wood, 1863)

Taken with ultraviolet light, this photograph illustrates how scorpions fluoresce; because the fluorescence is a characteristic attributed to the surface composition of the scorpion's epicuticle, it can be worn away—creating regions that no longer fluoresce.
